S10E68 Fantasy Scotland Squad

After last week where we discussed who should go to the Euros, this week John is joined by Scott and Tony.

We stick with the Scotland theme as we become involved in a bit of fantasy and pick a squad of Scotland players from 1990 onwards. There are some names who are absolute certainties but it’s interesting to note that in certain positions we’ve struggled for quality for a long time.

Back in the 90s, we qualified for four tournaments so it’s fairly natural that the majority of the squad would come from then. There are some more recent inclusions and lets hope if we do this again in future that more from the current squad will be involved.

S10E67 Scotland Squad Selected

John and Scott are on this week with the topic of choice being the Scotland squad for Euro 2020.

Before we discuss that though there is chat about the European Super League and potential consequences if it gets off the ground.

It’s just under two months till Euro 2020 so we discuss who we’d like to see in the Scotland squad and who we think Steve Clarke will pick. There aren’t maybe too many differences but from feedback we got from listeners and friends of the podcast there are certain players who have been regulars in the squad who may miss out.

Due to Covid it’s likely that there will be a larger squad than the usual 23 so we pick 26 players. We discuss the blow of losing Ryan Jack to injury and whether there should be calls for certain players to come out of retirement. Scott is in the minority when it comes to one player getting picked which makes for a good bit of banter on the podcast.

S10E66 Pipe It Up (No Disco Tech)

John and Tony are on this week to discuss current events in Scottish football.

The main focus of the podcast is a round up of the weekend action in the Premiership which we link in with previewing the weekend’s Scottish Cup ties.

We look at the lower leagues and who may potentially end up in promotion and relegation playoffs assuming that they get played.

Once again, the ongoing saga at Celtic is discussed as they are still without a manager as it seems the man they want is considering other options.

S10E65 Guest Special: Greig (Man of Steel)

We’ve a treat in store this week as one of the original regulars on the podcast joins us for a guest special. John is joined by Motherwell fan Greig.

The show kicks off by discussing recent events with Alexander replacing Robinson as manager. This leads on to chat about David Turnbull and whether he will go on to be the best player to have come from Motherwell in the last 30 years or so.

There is discussion about the Scottish Cup win in 1991 and the need for a win in modern times so that the current generation of fans have something they can relate to. Greig talks is through his favourite away day in the cup too.

It’s standard when we have a guest on to do some slowfire questions with them which we do and is is tradition we finish by asking Greig to pick a best eleven of players he has seen play for his club.
