S5E30 Suspenders and High Heels

No, you haven’t downloaded the wrong podcast. Krys is still hosting the Scottish Football Forums podcast, but the opening discussion with John and Andy goes a bit off piste before we start digging into the real details of this weekend’s football action.

We start off looking at the latest changes at the top of League Two, with Elgin City contributing to another disappointing charity bet for the podcast while East Fife took full advantage to move top. In League One, Peterhead’s great form continued while we discuss the benefits of being a full time team in the third tier.

The television coverage this weekend focused on the Championship with a Scottish Super Sunday, and it was a toss up between “a worldlie” and seven changes and still winning comfortably for what was the key talking point of those games. Sadly, the talking point for Saturday’s Championship action was the injury to Conor McGrandles of Falkirk.

In the Premiership, is it too little too late for Dundee United? What is left for Hearts? How many more midfielders can Celtic pick up? And will Partick Thistle ever get to play at home again?

Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. No luck this week again.

S5E29 Collum Strikes Again

It’s a mix of Scottish Cup and SPFL action on this week’s podcast. Although all the weekend action was from the league, this podcast was recorded while two replays took place in the Scottish Cup, as well as a bottom of the Premiership clash between Dundee United and Motherwell. As the goals and results come in, they get mentioned throughout the podcast so it’s a little bit bitty at time.

Although, to be honest, Krys and John pretty much skim their way through most of the league action to get to the juicy discussion of the fall out from Monday night’s game at Inverness.

The only way the discussion about Willie Collum on this podcast could depress a football fan more is if you’re a Dundee United fan and you’re listening to the discussion about their fate too.

There’s some Leigh Griffiths stats, some stalemates in the Championship, Peterhead on a run and no jokes about Barry Ferguson and Clyde’s problems with HMRC. No really, we couldn’t think of any.

Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. No luck this week in a reduced bet after the Hearts game was called off.

S5E28 Whoops Start Again

It’s Scottish Cup fifth round weekend, and Krys is joined once again by John to go over all the ins and outs. And that’s just the wee bits of paper in the balls during the draw.

There’s plenty of action across eight games, from a mind numbing Celtic performance, to inviting balls across the box at Tannadice, and best of all an enthralling Edinburgh derby that will go to a replay none of us can see.

Thanks UEFA.

The actual quarter final draw gets a mention, and of course there’s all the analysis of the big midweek Premiership game where Aberdeen bossed Celtic at Pittodrie before taking on a stuffy St Johnstone at the weekend. Where are we now with the title race? Listen and find out what the guys on either side of that race think.

We finish up with the usual predictions and charity bet choices, before asking if anyone wants to come on to be a guest on the podcast. We’re serious – come and have a go if you think you’re interested enough!

The Scottish Football Forums podcast – more professional than a Scottish FA cup draw.

S5E27 Chinese Takeaway Sow

It’s transfer deadline day, so in between discussing all the weekend action, Krys and John periodically stop to check what the latest news of the comings and goings.

Part of that might have been Krys trying to avoid talking about the League Cup semi finals right enough.

Actually, the guys did eventually get to the League Cup games played over the weekend, and unsurprisingly spent a lot of time focusing on key refereeing decisions in both games. That wasn’t the only time referees came up, as no one seems to know why Dundee got a penalty in their game against Motherwell.

Sadly that penalty wasn’t enough to save the weather-adjusted charity bet though. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. Hopefully better luck this coming weekend.

The usual recap of the league action, a look forward to the Scottish Cup fifth round, Premiership predictions… and Krys has a big rant about Celtic.

And Billy Davies actually. Krys was quite ranty this week actually.
